Olympic Training Center Giulio Onesti – Acqua Acetosa – Rome
Two significative interventions have been realized within the Olympic training centre “Giulio Onesti”: the Fencing Federal Centre and the Volleyball Gym.
The Fencing Federal Centre fits in the structure created by the architect Vitellozzi (with dovetailed crossbeams). The restyling of the facility has focused on delivering a new durmast flooring with shock-absorbing mounts with the installation of aluminium fencing platforms.
In order to assure fencers’ safety, the scoring machines have been located along the walls of the area.
On the other hand, the new volleyball gym replaces two former structures made in PVC. The intervention was accomplished by the construction of the gym and the locker rooms, in addition to spaces for leisure activities consequently connected to the main facility. The inner surface of the gym offers a regular filed that could be used for any kind of event, or alternatively, to host two permanent volleyball courts.
